Letting Go

Spirit Guardian of Autumn comes forth today to encourage us to continue letting go of everything that no longer serves us.

When we try to control our environments or the people we encounter, we cause ourselves a great deal of stress and unhappiness. We often do not realize that we expect people to behave in certain ways and are upset when they do not. When we release the expectations that others will play a role in our story in a particular way, we begin to create space for them and for ourselves to show up differently.

Similarly, when we accept that we are not supposed to know how things will unfold - that this is part of our soul’s intentional design for our lifetime and our soul is doing this for our benefit - we also open ourselves to new experiences and a different story.

These shifts are not always easy, yet they have a profound effect upon our lives.

For even with small changes in our attitude and narratives, we actually begin to feel like we are in more control because we are not constantly putting out fires. This allows us to feel less stress and less overwhelm. And, it facilitates our leaning in further.

The process of surrender becomes easier when we realize we do not have to do everything by ourselves. We do not have to figure it out. We have a partner in Spirit that is working for our benefit at all times. We simply have to allow it.

Take a few moments today and ask yourself: What you are attempting to control in your life? Why are you attempting to control it? Is this causing you to feel overwhelmed or anxious? What purpose does that feeling of overwhelm or anxiety serve for you - what benefit do you receive from this feeling?(The immediate response to this question is almost always one of denial, but when we look deeper with honesty, we can see that it does serve a purpose for us even if that purpose is not flattering.)

Is there any way for you to relinquish some of that need/desire for control?

What happens when you do?
