Your Inner Child is Calling
Today, we are receiving an invitation to go inside and connect with our inner child. There may be more than one of them that are ready and willing to connect with you. Our inner children exist on the wheel of time and you can learn to bridge that through meditation or breathing practices so that you can connect and communicate with your inner child in this moment of now.
Our inner children often hold the memories of deep wounds and traumas, as well as other powerful experiences that we may not consciously recall. They also hold deep wisdom, great heart, and wonder.
Connecting with our inner child(ren) is also an invitation to reclaim our innocence and the fractals of self we have “lost” along our journeys in this life. Engaging with our inner child(ren) allows us to become more self aware, empowered, and whole.
One of the ways to connect with your inner child is through visualization. In your meditation, visualize your inner child coming forward to greet you. You may have to invite them more than once or be patient for them to be willing to speak with you. Allow them to come in their time and just as they are. Treat them as you wish you had been treated by parents or other parental figures in your life. Embrace them if they will allow it. Listen to them. Invite them to tell you about themselves and what they are feeling. You may find they are sad or angry. Listen to them and what they have to share. Do not attempt to rationalize it for them at this first meeting, rather listen more deeply with all of your senses. Ask them questions. Whatever they share with you, remember to hold them in love, compassion, and affection for they are part of you.
What do you experience during this exercise? What surprises you about your encounter with your inner child? What do you feel - joy, anxiety, grief, excitement? What is behind these feelings?
Inviting your inner child to communicate with you regularly is a powerful form of healing and will assist you in discovering things about yourself and helping you to explore the person you wish to become.
